Online Colleges: A Step Above the Traditional School

Getting a degree online has many benefits. The people who may not have had the opportunity to get a college degree at a more traditional school will find an internet college advantageous. For the people with families or full-time jobs, attending classes on a campus can be difficult or even impossible to achieve. Online learning will allow the non-traditional student the means to obtain the degree they seek. Another negative factor to some students may be the expense of traditional colleges. Many online schools offer affordable possibilities to get a degree.


The advantages online colleges are substantial. Online schools provide flexible scheduling. Some online colleges offer online college courses that are accelerated programs. These programs permit you to do more studying within a shorter length of time. This allows the online school to aid you in completing college far more quickly. The online college education costs are reduced by simply not having to drive to campus day after day as well as the reduced cost of book expenses. Many online courses might have their materials located online.


Online college was once just correspondence school on your screen. It was heavy on writing and reading. American Intercontinental University offers degrees in business administration, criminal justice, education, information technology and visual communication. These same courses are offered by a traditional school also. Ashford University offers business courses, criminal justice, education, health care, information technology and trade skills. While at Colorado Technical University, you can earn your associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s or doctorate degree. Everest University Online offers criminal justice, homeland security, business administration, paralegal and several other degree programs. Everest University students participated in a study and stated that they took online classes with the online university because of the school’s noteworthy accreditation, career-focused curriculum, career placement services for their graduates, as well as the faculty’s reputation. Kaplan University Online offers courses in arts and sciences, criminal justice, business, health sciences, education, information technology, legal studies, law, as well as nursing.


Online education has helped huge numbers of people, that normally wouldn’t be in a position to attend college, transform their lives. High School Student Wanting to Take Online College Courses…?

Right, so I’m going to be a senior next year, and I’m really nervous about my future. Academically, my senior year is going to be packed; with an AP class, three dual-credit courses, and some other classes that I have to take to graduate. Knowing all of this, I’m a little overwhelmed, but I’m sure I can do it. My academics are on the top of my priority list, after all…

Now, my Father believes this as well and has suddenly brought up the idea of taking online college courses over the summer. Of course, since I was just released from school a week ago, I was fine with this since I will have some time. But after thinking about it a bit…I’m a little confused on a few things:

1.) Is it possible for a high school student to take online college course without a diploma?

2.) Will I have to call someone to arrange these courses if I am able to take them?

3.) How on earth does this whole system work? Do I have to take the classes at a specific time everyday? Or am I able to choose when I take the classes? How long do they last? A month? A few months, or maybe even longer than that?

4.) Is it a huge burden?

I’d really appreciate it if someone cleared these up for me…I hope I got my point across alright…

Getting accepted into a top business school – what will it take?

I’m 20 years old, did below average in highschool, and I haven’t gone to college or into the work force. I spent the time after high school pursuing my own online business and figuring out what type of education I should get.

I want to go to school for business, but i’m afraid I won’t be able to get into a top ranking business school, like NYU Stern or Columbia.

What will it take for someone in my situation to get accepted into a top business school and how can I best prepare myself?
